ChromaCane 50 — Pixel-Mapped Candy Cane (from $10)

As an employee of Boscoyo Studio, I'm excited to introduce our ChromaCane 50 (from $10) — a durable, easy-to-install decorative prop designed specifically for outdoor, addressable-RGB holiday light displays.

What is the ChromaCane 50?

The ChromaCane 50 (from $10) is a nearly 36" tall decorative candy cane prop built to accept addressable RGB pixels (nodes). It’s optimized for pixel mapping and holiday sequencers so you can create colorful, dynamic effects for drive-by displays, walkways, and property borders.

Key Features

  • Height: Almost 36" (~91 cm).
  • Pixel/Node Capacity: Holds 50 standard 12mm pixels or RGB nodes.
  • Material: 10mm white Coroplast (coro) — about 3/8" thick for enhanced rigidity and durability outdoors.
  • Orientation: Available in both left- and right-handed versions for symmetrical layouts.
  • Mounting: Designed to be zip-tied to a ground stake or a 1/2" EMT conduit; includes ziptie holes for fast installation.
  • Easy Assembly: Install pixels into pre-drilled holes and secure the cane in about 5 minutes.
  • Pixel Path™: Back-side marked Pixel Path™ for accurate, consistent node placement and wiring order.
  • Sequencer Compatibility: Works seamlessly with xLights, Light-O-Rama, and similar sequencer software and common controllers (Falcon, QuinLED, etc.).

How to Use the ChromaCane 50 (from $10)

  1. Follow the Pixel Path™ printed on the back to load 12mm pixels or RGB nodes into the pre-drilled holes.
  2. Zip-tie the cane to your stake or to a 1/2" EMT conduit using the provided ziptie holes.
  3. Run your pixel wiring to a compatible controller (examples: Falcon, QuinLED) and address the nodes in your sequencer.
  4. Program sequences in xLights or Light-O-Rama and incorporate multiple left- and right-handed canes for coordinated effects.

Typical assembly time: ~5 minutes per cane once your pixels and controllers are ready.

Applications

The ChromaCane 50 (from $10) is ideal for:

  • Drive-by holiday displays where durable, repeatable props matter.
  • Walkway and driveway borders to create flowing pixel effects.
  • Residential and commercial displays integrated into pixel-mapped show sequences.
